What should I expect from sports massage therapy?

Contrary to popular belief, sports massage therapy isn’t the type of treatment that you would find at a spa.  Our Sports therapists are knowledgeable in the musculoskeletal structure and anatomy of the human body and trained in physiotherapy to make sure they give the best service possible.

Sports therapy is compromised of methods that improve movement quality and boost recovery from injury or pain induced by exercise.

Effleurage

Effleurage involves gentle strokes using the palm of the hand directed towards the heart, promoting increased blood flow.

Petrissage

Petrissage entails kneading movements that aid in muscle recovery, making it an integral part of sports massage therapy.

Tapotement

Tapotement stimulates muscles, particularly useful in pre-event massages. Techniques such as cupping and hacking are utilised to provide this stimulation.

Friction

Friction movements are effective for penetrating deep muscle tissues, making them particularly beneficial for healing injuries and warming up muscles.

Vibration

“Definitely the best in Hampstead! Gabriella is my go to, she has been so helpful in treating my sports/overuse injuries. I usually see her for a sports massage and dry needling. She’s so knowledgeable and friendly and easy to book with. She spends time assessing your needs and determining a treatment plan to get you back in action. Alex is amazing as well, I have seen him if Gabriella is unavailable and I’m desperate to get in. If you’re looking for very knowledge physios/massage therapists, I highly recommend, seriously the best!”

"I have been seing Alina for the past few weeks to address my lower back pain and I am impressed with the results. My work requires using my body and my lower back. This has created some issues over the past few years and became quite painful. I am happy to experience release and less pain since I am having the massage sessions. Thank you, totally recommended!"
